quebec eV rebate for new vehicle

Effective July 1 2022, The Quebec provincial government offers individuals, businesses, organizations and Québec municipalities a rebate of up to $7,000 on the purchase or lease of a new, eligible electric vehicle. It was originally $8,000. The list of eligible models and the rebates associated with each model vary for each program, and also depend on the vehicle’s model-year. It is therefore important to check the list of eligible vehicles on the website of each rebate program. The rebate is instantaneously applied at the dealership.

quebec eV rebate for used vehicle

Québec is offering a purchase rebate to individuals, businesses, organizations and municipalities in Québec wishing to acquire all-electric used vehicles. Effective July 1, 2022, the rebate for a used electric vehicle will be $3,500. The new rebate amount will apply to eligible used electric vehicles registered on or after July 1, 2022.

The previous rebate amount, which was $4,000, will be granted if the used vehicle is registered in your name by June 30, 2022. It is the vehicle registration date that is used to determine the rebate. The rebate granted for a used vehicle is calculated to be equal to 50% of the rebate that would be offered under the Roulez vert program for the same model of vehicle were it purchased new.

Only one rebate can be attributed per vehicle under the program and the vehicle must remain registered in Québec for at least 12 months if it is acquired for personal use and for at least 36 months if it is purchased for a vehicle fleet (three or more vehicles). The vehicle must not have been subsidized new, only certain models and years comply.

Financial assistance is available for the acquisition, lease and installation of one or more 240 VAC charging stations for multi-unit residential buildings. The rebate may be as much as much as $5,000 per charging station.

Acquisition and installation

The financial assistance granted for the acquisition and installation of charging stations for multi-unit residential buildings will be the lesser of the following amounts: 50% of eligible expenses OR $5,000 per wireless charging station OR $5,000 per connector for charging stations with one or more connectors that allow the equivalent number of electric vehicles to be recharged simultaneously.

Lease and installation of a charging station
The financial assistance for the lease and installation of charging stations for a multi-unit residential building corresponds to:

$500 per wireless charging station OR $500 per connector for charging stations with one or more connectors that allow the equivalent number of electric vehicles to be recharged simultaneously AND 50% of eligible expenses related to the installation of a charging station.

The total amount of financial assistance shall not exceed $5,000 per wireless charging station or per connector.

If the charging station is leased, the applicant must provide a lease showing that he or she meets the other eligibility requirements of the program, notably the requirement to keep the charging station in operation for at least three years.

canadian federal incentives

The Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV) Program and tax write-offs for businesses are helping to make it more affordable.

Purchase and lease incentives
The iZEV Program offers point-of-sale incentives for consumers (subject to funding availability) who buy or lease a ZEV vehicle. Only the vehicles listed on our website are eligible for an incentive when they’re purchased or leased for at least 12 months, on or after the eligibility date.

Before including a car on the list of eligible vehicles, Transport Canada has reviewed an application from the automaker and has found that the vehicle meets the iZEV Program requirements. Namely, that the vehicle is:

A passenger car, where the base model Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is less than $55,000; and higher priced trims of these vehicles, up to a maximum MSRP of $65,000, will also be eligible for purchase incentives.

Or

A station wagon, pickup truck (light truck), sport utility vehicle (SUV), minivan, van, or special purpose vehicle, where the base model Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is less than $60,000; and higher priced trims of these vehicles, up to a maximum MSRP of $70,000, will also be eligible for purchase incentives.

Types of incentives

There are two levels of incentives:

Battery-electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and longer-range plug-in hybrid vehicles are eligible for up to $5,000; longer range plug-in vehicles have an electric range equal to or greater than 50 km.

Shorter range plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are eligible for up to $2,500; shorter range plug-in vehicles have an electric range under 50 km
